Return to the Wilderness - Day 28
Spiritual Renewal in Sacred Solitude
Scripture (Mark 1:35): “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.”
Reflection: There’s something that pulls you back.
Even after the hunt is over, the tag filled (or not), the gear put away — you find yourself drawn again to the timber, the ridgelines, the open sky. Not for the chase this time. Not for the harvest. But simply for the wilderness itself.
Because out there, your soul remembers something it tends to forget in the noise: how to be still. How to breathe. How to hear God.
Jesus understood this. In the midst of healing crowds, teaching disciples, and facing unimaginable pressure, He often withdrew — not to escape, but to renew. He went to quiet places to talk to His Father. To anchor His spirit. To walk in solitude that wasn’t lonely — it was holy.
And we need that, too.
You don’t have to be holding a rifle or bow to walk back into the wild. Sometimes you just go with a thermos of coffee, a pair of boots, and an open heart. The purpose isn’t always pursuit — sometimes it’s presence. And in that return, something inside you gets restored.
The wilderness isn’t just a place to hunt. It’s a place to heal.
So if the pace of life has left your spirit worn thin, go back. Not to perform — just to be. Let the wind and the Word wash over you. Let the silence become your sanctuary.
And remember… Jesus still meets people in the wild.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for the gift of the wilderness — the places where distractions fade and Your voice becomes clear again. Help me to seek You not just in church or busy days, but in still, sacred spaces.
Lead me back to the quiet. Let my soul breathe again. And whether I return with gear or simply with need, let the wild be a place where I find You waiting.
Renew me, restore me, and remind me that I was made for communion with You.
In Jesus Name, Amen.
