There’s Something About Being Outside

There’s something about being outside that changes you. Maybe you’ve felt it. Standing in a river with the current moving around your legs… sitting in the dark waiting for first light in a tree stand… watching the sky come alive as birds begin to move… hearing nothing but wind, water, and your own breath. And in that moment, everything slows down. The noise fades. The pressure lifts. The world feels different—clearer. And somewhere deep inside, you begin to sense something. Not loud. Not overwhelming. But real.

What You’re Feeling

Most people don’t know what to call that feeling. They say things like peace, nature, energy, or just being present. But what if it’s more than that? What if what you’re feeling is actually the presence of God? Not distant. Not removed. But near. Closer than you think.

God Reveals Himself Through Creation

The Bible tells us that God reveals Himself through His creation—not just in churches or sermons, but in the mountains, the rivers, the sky, and the quiet places where distractions disappear and truth has room to breathe. Out here, you don’t have to try as hard to hear Him. There is something about creation that opens the heart and quiets the mind, making space for something deeper to be seen and felt.

On the River

There’s a rhythm to fly fishing. You can’t force it. You have to slow down, pay attention, and trust what you can’t always see. You learn patience. You learn awareness. You learn to let go of control. And if you’ve spent enough time on the water, you begin to realize—faith works the same way.

In the Woods

In a tree stand, you sit for hours in silence. Watching. Waiting. Listening. You become aware of everything—the slightest movement, the faintest sound, the direction of the wind. And in that stillness, something shifts. You begin to think differently. About life. About purpose. About what really matters. The distractions fall away, and what’s left is something real.

In the Blind

Before shooting light, there’s a moment that’s hard to explain. It’s quiet. Still. Almost sacred. No talking. No movement. Just anticipation and awareness. And if you’ve ever sat there long enough, you know—that moment feels different. Like time pauses. Like something unseen is present.

The Truth Behind the Feeling

That feeling you’ve experienced—that peace, that awareness, that sense that you’re not alone—is not just nature. It’s God reaching for you. Through Jesus Christ, we come to know Him personally—not as an idea or a distant force, but as a living Savior who meets us right where we are. And through the Holy Spirit, that presence becomes real, personal, and undeniable. He speaks in ways that don’t always use words, but are felt deep within the heart.

The God Must Be Series

That’s why we wrote the God Must Be series. Not to preach at people, but to share real stories from the river, the woods, and the water—stories that reveal something deeper. God has been there all along. In the quiet. In the struggle. In the beauty. In the moments that stop you in your tracks and make you wonder.

An Invitation

Maybe you’ve felt it before. Maybe you’re feeling it now. Maybe you’ve never thought about it this way, but something about it makes sense. Wherever you are, we invite you to explore. To lean in. To consider that what you’ve experienced in the outdoors may not just be a moment—but a message.

Closing

You don’t have to go looking for God in complicated places. Sometimes you find Him standing in a river, waiting in the woods, or moving across the water at first light. And once you recognize Him, you begin to realize—He was there the whole time.
